I've seen ppl say that Starscream deserves the abuse he gets, or that it's fun to watch him boast/be annoying and then get beaten up and...
That's a REALLY scary and just unpleasant mindset.
I don't care if he's a villain. I really don't like this trend in media that abuse is justified because it's funny (ESPECIALLY if it feels like the character's being punished more for their identity/personality than their actions).
This mindset is in the franchise ("What do you think Megatron's goung to do to Starscream?" "Nothing gentle I would say" cue Autobots laughing) and outside of it and I really dislike it.
It's REALLY bad in Transformers Prime especially (G1 is silly cartoon nonsense from the 80s so all the violence I can forgive more, especially since Starscream's much sassier/snarkier towards Megatron and doesn't even hesitate to attack him when he's threatened with being replaced)
So much for Optimus Prime's everyone deserves a chance mindset (I guess it doesn't apply to cowardly sissy villains; gotta love toxic masculinity. I really like the Transformers franchise but it's also difficult to enjoy watching episodes of TFP because the writing has this undertone of misogyny/homophobia/toxic masculinity?)
